Visit Heavenly at Lake Tahoe

If you've never been to Lake Tahoe it's time you went. South Lake Tahoe is a primary destination for most Tahoe travelers that include Heavenly ski resort, great mountain top views of the lake, and Major Casino's and Entertainment. South Lake Tahoe is on the California-Nevada State line and you can actually walk from your hotel on the Nevada side to the California side. It is more convenient to have a vehicle because you'll want to take in all the sights when traveling to Lake Tahoe.

Lake Tahoe is North America's Largest Alpine Lake and 2/3 of the lake is in California-1/3 of the lake is in Nevada. To get to Lake Tahoe you'll need to fly into Reno and make the drive which takes about an hour and a half. You can also take a bus which will add some time to your trip but their is plenty to do in South Lake Tahoe and it won't be the end of the world if you don't have wheels.

Some of the places to stay in South Lake Tahoe are the Lake Tahoe Resort Hotel, Harrah's, Harvey's, Bally's, The Hardrock Hotel and Casino, and The Lodge at Edgewood hotel. The Lake Tahoe Resort Hotel is located right next next to the Heavenly Gondola lift and could not be more convenient If you are going skiing. The other Hotels and Casino Resorts are located within a few blocks or closer.

The Lake Tahoe Resort Hotel has plenty of shopping on-site, Places to get ski rentals, shop for souvenirs, or grab a bite to eat. The shopping could consume your day if you decide that's all you wanted to do. Plenty of shops and places to spend your money.

The best time to go to avoid any big crowds is the week before Christmas. We practically had the mountain to ourselves at times and that was good because I hadn't been skiing in quite some time. Luckily, no broken bones and after a few hours I was back to being a decent novice skier.

I've been to Tahoe about 5 or 6 times and each time I try to stay at a different hotel and find different things to do. Restaurants with great views of the lake are definitely something you should put on your list of things to do and I highly recommend the Charthouse for a nice dinner and evening out.

There are plenty of other resorts around the lake...too many to mention and lots of Airbnb choices. The lake itself is huge and If you decide to drive around the lake it's about 75 miles and will take about 2.5 hours with no stopping. Check out this video of a trip around Lake Tahoe in 9 minutes.

Boating around the Lake and tours are also an option. A popular option is the MS Dixie II. I've attached the video below with all links below as well. It's a tour worth taking to Emerald Bay and you can get great pictures while cruising the lake.

It's always a great time to travel to Lake Tahoe. The summer make Tahoe a completely different vacation spot. I recommend going and no matter what time of year you will have a spectacular time. Enjoy your time in Tahoe.
